Brush With Grief at Medicine Horse

Brush With Grief at Medicine Horse

Medicine HorseLongmont, CO
Overview

Explore grief through brushmaking, storytelling, and grounding in this mixed-age Brush With Grief workshop hosted by Medicine Horse.

Brush With Grief at Medicine Horse will take place outdoors, near or in a barn, surrounded by horses, ponies, goats, open space, and majestic views of the Front Range from Medicine Horse's ranch in Longmont, Colorado.

Brush With Grief is a hands-on creative grief workshop where participants use natural and meaningful materials to create a personal brush. The workshop offers a calm, reflective space to honor grief, memory, transition, pet loss, caregiving loss, or other meaningful life changes.

Participants will gather or select materials, share the stories connected to them if they choose, and create a personal brush as a tangible symbol of grief, memory, and meaning.

While the horses will not be part of the workshop activities, the session will take place in the peaceful outdoor setting of Medicine Horse, with the herd nearby and the natural landscape supporting the experience.

Medicine Horse is a Longmont-based nonprofit offering equine-assisted learning, psychotherapy, and community programs. Their work centers the healing relationship between people, horses, and the natural environment, making it a fitting setting for a grounded, creative grief workshop.

What to Expect

Land: Choose Materials

Participants begin by selecting natural materials that speak to them. Materials may include wood, fur, fiber, string, plants, and decorative elements. All basic materials are provided, and participants are welcome to bring a small meaningful item of their own if they would like to incorporate it.

Human: Show and Tell

Participants will have the option to share what they selected and the grief story, memory, or transition connected to those materials. Sharing is invited, not required. Quiet participation is welcome.

Sky: Brushmaking, Reflection, and Sharing

Participants will create a personal brush using the materials they selected. The brush becomes a symbolic object connected to grief, memory, and meaning. We will close with time for reflection and optional sharing.
