A family-friendly event partnering with The Walk, Wheel or Wiggle for CMV organized by CMV Canada.

June 7th | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join us at Oxford Athletic Club in raising awareness for congenital CMV and supporting education, prevention, and families affected by CMV. Food and drinks will be provided following the walk.

Why we walk for CMV

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus that few people know about. When we were pregnant with Jade, I (Caroline, Jade’s mother) had a cold (CMV), and it got transmitted to her in utero. There were few chances (less then 2%) that the virus could cause Jade disabilities, but from that congenital infection, she has a severe hearing loss. CMV can cause hearing loss at birth or later in childhood, and it can also affect a baby’s learning, speech, or development. Knowing about CMV gives parents a chance to take simple steps that can help protect their baby.
