Guided trail walk
Strong Island Nature Walk
Date and Time: Wednesday, June 17th @ 9:00am (arrive at landing at 8:45am)
Distance: ~2 miles
Our first trip of the season to Strong Island!
Join CCF staff and trustees for a walk around the “gem” of Pleasant Bay. Your guides will focus on the fascinating history of the island, the flora and fauna found there and CCF's current conservation efforts in Chatham. Acquired in 1973 from the Horst Family, Strong Island consists of 75 acres of upland owned by CCF and 59 acres of town-owned marsh. Located in Pleasant Bay, the property has both the limitations of isolation from the Cape as a whole and also the likelihood of unique migrational visitations. The island-long trail system winds thought pine and oak woodlands filled with native shrubs and wildlife representative of the general area.
Transportation to and from the island will be provided on private boats.
Special Notes:
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and be prepared with water, sunglasses, and sunblock as needed. The walk will follow trails as well as off-trail beaches.
Please Note:
