After taking a year off, we’re officially BACK & BETTER for Summer 2026! 💫 Whether you’ve never stepped on skates before or want to sharpen your basics, our beginner lessons are designed to help you build confidence, control, and style in a fun community environment.

Join us at TheLinkUpDC for a special Beginner Roller Skating Class Breakdown! Here's what you need to know:

🔥 MONTH 1: FOUNDATION & CONTROL
Goal: Feel stable, stop safely & move with intention
🛼 WEEK 1 – BALANCE & POSTURE
📅 June 4th
Learn proper skating posture with slight knee bends, chest up, and centered balance. Practice standing still, marching movements, and learning how to feel comfortable on wheels.
🎯 Goal: No more panic wobbling!
🛼 WEEK 2 – FORWARD STRIDE
📅 June 11th
Learn how to properly push side-to-side instead of stepping forward. Focus on smooth rolling and recovering your feet under your hips for better control.
🎯 Goal: Smooth rolling with confidence.
🛼 WEEK 3 – STOPPING BASICS
📅 June 18th
Learn toe stop drags and an introduction to T-stops. Practice slowing down safely and stopping without relying on walls or rails.
🎯 Goal: Controlled stops with confidence.
🛼 WEEK 4 – TURNING INTRO
📅 June 25th
Introduction to A-frame turns, carving, and basic directional control while rolling.
🎯 Goal: Turn smoothly without losing balance.🎟️ Check-In
When you arrive, you will see a table with a TheLinkUpDC banner. One of our team members will be there signing students in. In the off-chance that no one is at the table, be on the lookout for instructors wearing TheLinkUpDC t-shirts. Please have your confirmation ready and we will sign you in.
⏰ :Arrival Time and Class Start :
We STRONGLY recommend arriving to Anacostia early (15-20mins) to stretch and warm up. We will start class PROMPTLY at the time listed on your ticket. You can come in late, but you face the possibility of missing some important information. The instructors will make every effort to get you caught up to speed if you arrive after the class starts.
🌧️Weather Policy + Cancellation Policy - In the case of inclement weather, TheLinkUpDC will send a cancellation email out no more than two hours prior to the start of lessons. If Cancelled the Make up date will be that upcoming 📅 Friday at the same time.

🤝 Liability Statement - By purchasing this ticket, I acknowledge that I am aware of, appreciate the character of, and voluntarily assume the risks involved in participating in all activities associated with roller skating. By purchasing this ticket, on behalf of myself, my heirs, next of kin, successors in interest, assigns, personal representatives, and agents, I hereby:
Waive any claim or cause of action against and release from liability TheLinkUpDC any liability for injuries to my person or property resulting from my use of the facility or participation in the activity listed above;
Agree to indemnify and hold harmless TheLinkupDC for any claims, causes of action, or liability to any other person arising from my use of the facility or participation in the activity listed above;
Consent to receive any medical treatment deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident or illness during these activities; and
Acknowledge that a participant under 18 years of age has permission by the parent or legal guardian of the minor child to participate.
Moving from Beginner to Intermediate - The student should be able to perform every activity listed below in order to advance to the intermediate class.
