Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking history required. I will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!

Question 3

What will we learn in class?

Accepted Answer

You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste ! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as wet on wet, outlining, brush embroidery.

Question 4

What do I need to bring?

Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is have fun! Messy decorator? Bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, bring 'em!

What age is best for cookie classes?

My in-person classes are great for any age! Kids under 14  will need a parent taking the class as well. If your child is too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! I'll send you the PowerPoint and you can teach your kiddos in the comfort of your own home.

Question 6

Can just my child take the class?

Accepted Answer

For children under 14, I ask that all parents also purchase tickets and attend the with their children. You can drop off children 14 and older and return to pick-up in 2 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch watch their children in class.

Question 7

What will I bring home?

Accepted Answer

A set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 hours in their own box. Additionally, I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class, the class PowerPoint, AND my signature sugar cookie and royal icing recipes! You'll also get to keep the scribe you used in class.

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

Accepted Answer

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 12 seats, so definitely sign up ASAP!

Where are the classes located?

This class will be held at Small Dog Candle Co & Market at 617 LaSalle St. Ottawa IL 61350 in downtown Ottawa.

Question 10

I signed up for a class but can't make it?

Accepted Answer

I understand that life happens so that’s why I allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend (so nice!). Any cancelation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for a future class up to one year from the credit issue date.
