The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Experience the sophisticated heat of Latin jazz as virtuoso pianist Irving Flores brings his acclaimed Afro-Cuban trio to The Sound Room. Celebrating his recent recognition for one of the Top 5 Latin Jazz releases of 2025, Flores places the piano center stage as a lead melodic voice, weaving together high-energy jazz standards and original selections from his latest album, <a href="https://irvingflores.com/about" title="https://irvingflores.com/about" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Armando Mi Conga</a>. In the true spirit of this premier East Bay listening room, this performance highlights the masterful interplay and rhythmic brilliance of a leader whose work is defined by both power and nuance. Join us for a night of world-class music where the sound is the experience. From his early beginnings as a child prodigy leading Orchestra Tamalipas, to becoming a nationally treasured artist in Mexico, Irving’s journey has been nothing short of legendary. Now based in San Diego, California, Irving continues to push musical boundaries and innovate within the jazz genre, contributing richly to its evolution and reaching new audiences through his performances and recordings.Irving’s career is marked by notable collaborations and performances with jazz icons such as Poncho Sanchez, Airto Moreira, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. His skills as an arranger and producer shine through in projects like the acclaimed “Tribute to Frank Sinatra” with the San Diego Symphony and his stirring arrangements for international stars like Luis Miguel. Irving’s recent work includes the much-anticipated album “Armando Mi Conga,” recorded live in New York City and featuring a roster of legendary musicians.
