SHOOP! 90'S Party w/ Neil Armstrong and Live Painting w/ Esoteric Urbanism

SHOOP returns for a special birthday-season edition: GEMINI ♊︎ VS CANCER ♋︎ — an all-90s party celebrating two DJs who came up in the era of packed dancefloors, burned CDs, mixtapes, and staying out way too late.

After a packed house at the last SHOOP with Neil Armstrong, we’re running it back for a night dedicated entirely to the music that shaped us — hip hop, R&B, freestyle, club classics, deep cuts, and forgotten party gems from the best decade to ever do it.

DJ Cher La Luna is a West Orange-based DJ, event curator, and lifelong music obsessive whose sound was started in Philly, perfected in Brooklyn, and landed in Jersey. Known for emotional, high-energy sets that bounce between genres and generations, Cher blends underground dance culture, nostalgia, and community-centered nightlife into parties that feel both personal and electric.

Neil Armstrong is an internationally respected DJ known for his legendary mixtapes, eclectic club sets, and longtime work alongside Jay-Z as his tour DJ. From hip hop and R&B to all-45 sets and new wave, Neil’s deep musical knowledge and effortless range have made him a favorite everywhere from NYC clubs to online Twitch sessions, while regularly bouncing between Japan, Hawaii, and New York.

Live painting throughout the night will be provided by Kortez of Esoteric Urbanism — a New Jersey-based visual artist, designer, and DJ whose work explores underground culture, abstract art, mixed media, and the creativity of the African diaspora. His immersive live artwork will transform the space in real time alongside the music.

This edition lands directly between both of our birthdays, so we’re throwing the kind of party we grew up on: loud music, sweaty dancing, familiar samples, singalongs, Jersey energy, and zero pretension.
