The Gilded Age Tea Experience at The Biddle Mansion
Step back in time for an elegant Afternoon Tea with Gilded Age vibes you won’t forget.
The Gilded Age Tea Experience at Biddle Mansion invites guests to step into the elegance of a bygone era, when rail travel connected New York City to the Hudson Valley and grand estates became places of escape, entertainment, and refined hospitality. Set inside the historic Biddle Mansion at Tarrytown House Estate, this elevated afternoon tea experience draws inspiration from the romance of early rail travel, the beauty of Hudson Valley estate life, and the property’s own layered history — including its connection to Thomas King, Vice President of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and namesake of King Mansion.
The event is designed to feel elegant, nostalgic, and immersive, with classic afternoon tea service, vintage travel-inspired details, and subtle storytelling woven throughout the guest experience.
Enjoy a selection of tea sandwiches including smoked salmon with caper-chive cream cheese, cucumber with lemon-dill crème fraîche, crab with Old Bay aioli, and shaved pickled seasonal vegetables. The experience also includes traditional and blueberry English scones served with butter, strawberry jam, clotted cream, and elderberry honey, along with petite desserts such as cheesecake bites, fruit tarts, and mini hazelnut opera cakes.
Tea service will feature fine loose-leaf selections from Puddings and Biscakes, including one black tea and one herbal tea, served with milk, sweeteners, honey, sugar cubes, and raw sugar.
