What is an improv jam?

An improv jam is a casual, open event where people gather to play improvisational theater (or improv) games in a fun, low-pressure environment. It's like a jam session for musicians, but for performers who enjoy unscripted comedy. Our hosts set up the games and bring up volunteer players and we JAM!

Okay, but what if I've never done improv before?

Don't worry!! Plenty of people have never done improv before. We will have some more experienced improvisers on stage with participants at all times, so if you're ever stuck during a game, somebody will be there to help you out! “Support your stage partner” is second only to “Yes..and”

Okay, but I'm still really nervous!!

Accepted Answer

Relax. You're welcome to just enjoy the show from the audience if you don't want to participate! Come watch your friends make fools of themselves as they try to be funny!

Question 4

Fine, I'm coming! Where can I park?

Accepted Answer

There is street parking in the area (but hard to get!) so we recommend inexpensive parking at Dehart Street Garage (1 block away). IMPORTANT: The parking lot connected to the Masonic center is NOT open. It is for the MPAC and WILL NOT be available that evening. Don't park there!

How do ticket sales work?

Tickets bought in advance through Eventbrite are $15 (we cover the eventbrite fee!). Tickets bought at the door are $20. Eventbrite purchasing will be closed shortly before doors open for the show. Door tickets can only be bought with cash. Door ticket availability is NOT guaranteed!

Should I bring my kids?

Accepted Answer

Since everything is made up on the spot, we have no idea what is going to be said. We 
 are suggesting young children do not attend. Children 13+, please use parental discretion. Adult language, topics, and themes may be present. Anyone under the age of 18 requires adult supervision.
