Admission is FREE with RSVP (LIMITED tickets available). Once our free tickets & our Eventbrite $7 (+tax/fees) Advanced Pass is gone, it'll be $15 (+tax) cover at the door.

A weekly, all-vinyl residency at Block & Drum curated by resident DJ Rasta Root. Part of our ongoing DJ residencies and curated music sessions, it blends soulful grooves, deep cuts, intentional sound, and themed visuals with big-screen scenes that deepen the mood and shape the night with intention.

Expect elegant soul, quiet-storm moods, smooth R&B, and groove-rich selections inspired by Sade, alongside adjacent artists like Anita Baker, Jill Scott, Maxwell, Solange, The Internet, and Snoh Aalegra. Warm, sensual, and mood-forward, the night moves with depth, style, and intention.

An internationally acclaimed DJ with a deep appreciation for vinyl culture and a gift for blending genres seamlessly. Having performed globally, he brings a wealth of experience — and locally, he’s the driving force behind his regular Friday residency at Block & Drum: Smokin’ Shells Sessions.

Is parking available?

Plenty of free parking nearby, including the Walmart underground garage (just a 3-minute walk via the well-lit Rail Trail), Keswick Park, and street parking on McGaw Dr. For convenience, valet parking is available behind Nathan’s Driving School. Parking Map:  https://www.blockanddrum.com/parking.

What time should I arrive?

Doors open at 6:30 PM and music begins at 8 PM. On 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, Connections (a separate ticketed event) runs 6:30–8 PM, so Deep Root guests should plan to arrive around 8 PM on those nights.

Yes, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

No, outside food is not allowed. A food truck will be on-site at each event, offering a variety of delicious options.
