<p>Please join us for an afternoon filled with activities: tour the wonderfully renovated library spaces; listen to a talk by Julie Greene, Southampton Town Historian; participate in a special Hampton Library children’s book launch with Eva Auchincloss Petersen; test your skills in a Family Olympics; dance to live music by Mama Lee &amp; Friends, meet kittens from ARF, take a treasure hunt, paint a community mural, and more. Plus free food and fun giveaways. All are welcome!</p>

Help us cut the ribbon for our freshly renovated library, the heart of the community since 1876!

The Bridgehampton School Marimba Ensemble is a highly regarded group of talented student musicians led by longtime music teacher David Elliott. Known for bringing vibrant rhythms to the East End community, the band is a staple at local and regional events. They are amazing!

Tour the freshly renovated library spaces; go on a treasure hunt; test your skills in a Family Olympics;  meet kittens from ARF;  paint a community mural;  visit our Literacy Classroom for Green Screen photos; stop by our Friends of the Library table; watch a personalized balloon sculpture be created in front of your eyes,  and more!  Plus free food and fun giveaways!

Activities throughout the afternoon

The Hampton Library is honored that Bridgehampton author/illustrator Eva Auchincloss Petersen wrote an original children's book as a fundraiser for the library's renovation, which is being launched at this event with a special storytime!

Eva describes herself as a wife, mom, illustrator, author, painter, art director, designer.

"Diverse subjects, diverse mediums. The tactile nature of the materials and the creative process. The act of focused play... all essential parts of me!"   Thank you, Eva!

Julie Greene, the official Historian for the Town of Southampton, will be giving a fascinating talk about Stephen Burroughs, an eighteenth-century rogue and counterfeiter, who campaigned to establish a library in Bridgehampton while pitting himself against the local elders and townspeople.

Julie's role as Southampton Town Historian involves documenting and preserving local history, leading community lectures, and working with local preservation organizations. She frequently engages with the community on various preservation efforts and educational tours.

Julie also set up the Ed and Phyllis Davis Long Island Room at the Hampton Library, where you can find more local stories, and she helped us restore the recently uncovered brick wall in our expanded Literacy Room. Thank you, Julie!

Bridgehampton History Talk with Julie Greene, Southampton Town Historian

An all-time favorite band in the Hamptons, Mamalee Rose & Friends are celebrated for their distinctive family dynamic, blending gospel and blues influences into their powerful vocal performances. Their performances feature a lively mix of covers (from Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin to Janis Joplin and Tracy Chapman) as well as original music, featuring Lee "Mamalee" Lawler: Lead vocalist; Rose Lawler: Vocalist; Jimmy Lawler: Drums; Peter "Bosco" Michne: Guitar, plus other outstanding local musicians. Bring your dancing shoes!
