Nuyorican singer/songwriter Nomi Ruiz’s debut hip-hop soul LP ‘Lost in
Lust’ was just the beginning. Since then, she’s spent decades as a
pioneering trans artist, gracing prestigious stages with dance music
collective Hercules & Love Affair before creating and fronting the
R&B, punk, and house fusion band Jessica 6. Described as "the
spiritual lovechild of Andy Warhol and Grace Jones with the spookily
effortless air of a future pop icon" by The Guardian, Ruiz continues
to build upon a body of work that threads soul and electronic music
into a unique experience that is better felt than described. Joined by
an ensemble of world-class musicians Monika Heidemann (keys/vocals),
Joy Joseph (percussion/vocals), Josh Werner (bass) and special guest
Felipe Skandal (electric guitar), Ruiz mines a collection of her most
moving works from Jessica 6’s pop-punk anthems to her solo
explorations of gritty torch songs. Expect raw, gritty, real New York
storytelling that guides you into the unknown.
