I Am Free: Art Auction Preview Reception

Join I Am, We Are for the I Am Free Preview Reception, an intimate evening where South African art, culture, music, and community come alive in Washington, DC in support of IAWA’s 8th Annual Art Auction & Cultural Exhibition.

Presented in partnership with Denzil’s & Jo Gallery in Johannesburg, South Africa, I Am Free is a cross-continental auction honoring freedom, youth leadership, and the 50th anniversary of the Soweto Uprising. The exhibition features work by South African artists and celebrates the power of art, young people, and community to imagine freedom and move us closer to it.

You can bid in the auction from anywhere — but the reception is your only chance to see the artwork live, experience the energy in person, and connect with the deeper story behind each piece.
