Tools and strategies for more equitable, inclusive decision-making—designed for knowledge workers, adaptable to any organizational context.
On 23 June 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET: A 90-minute interactive workshop on building more equitable, values-aligned decision-making frameworks for knowledge workers, organizations, communities, and collectives.
Decision-making is often where organizational values get tested. A group may be deeply committed to shared power, inclusion, and collective care, but when pressure hits, it's easy to default to processes that contradict those values, leaving people feeling sidelined or mistrustful.
So how do you build decision-making practices that actually reflect what your organization believes, even when time is short, power is uneven, or the path forward is unclear?
This 90-minute workshop from Educopia pulls back the curtain on how effective, equitable decision-making actually works in knowledge organizations. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience supporting communities in the knowledge sector—and our own organizational learning and transition—we'll share tools and frameworks in a toolkit you can adapt and implement right away, whether you're part of a volunteer-driven collective, a loosely structured initiative, or a more established institution.
The workshop is organized around these key questions:
- How and when do decisions get made in your organization?
- Who makes those decisions—and who should?
- How is power distributed, and what does your current process say about your values?
- What are the unintended consequences of the tools you're using?
- What does a more inclusive, transparent, and sustainable decision-making process look like in practice?
Through discussion and hands-on exploration, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of collaborative decision-making and concrete tools for clarifying roles, responsibilities, and processes in your own context.
We welcome you wherever you are in your decision-making practice—archivists, librarians, facilitators, and other knowledge workers across community organizations, coalitions, and institutions of all kinds.
