Black Hole Parenting: How to Effectively Parent Your Neurodivergent Child

Are you an educator, counselor, parent, or caregiver? This talk will offer valuable insight into supporting neurodivergent children with greater understanding, confidence, and compassion.

Join renowned clinical psychologist and speaker Dr. Matthew Zakreski (“Dr. Matt”) for an engaging and insightful presentation exploring the unique emotional, social, and cognitive experiences of neurodivergent individuals, including gifted, ADHD, autistic, and dyslexic learners. Drawing from years of clinical practice and research, Dr. Matt helps adults better understand how neurodivergent brains interact with the world — and how to provide support that is strengths-based, practical, and deeply affirming.

Known internationally for his dynamic speaking style, humor, warmth, and authenticity, Dr. Matt translates complex neuroscience and psychology into accessible, actionable strategies that resonate with both families and professionals. His work focuses especially on gifted and twice-exceptional learners, helping communities move beyond frustration and toward deeper connection, resilience, and effective support.

Dr. Zakreski holds a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Widener University, where his research focused on the social and emotional needs of gifted learners and expanded into best educational and occupational practices for neurodivergent individuals. Having delivered more than 500 presentations worldwide, he is widely respected for helping schools and families better understand and celebrate different kinds of minds.

Whether you are raising, teaching, mentoring, counseling, or otherwise supporting neurodivergent children, this talk will provide meaningful insights, practical tools, and a more compassionate framework for helping young people thrive.
