The Mother Wound
The Lac Remedies: Milk, Memory, and the Mother Wound
Long before we have language, we have milk.
Milk is our first experience of nourishment, of being held and of belonging in a body and in the world. When that early imprint is disrupted through absence, rejection, separation or a mother who was unable to fully give what was needed, it can leave something deeply felt but difficult to name.
In this keynote lecture, Dr Taryn Jacobs MTech Hom, Registered Homeopath, will explore the Lac remedies and their relationship with this pre-verbal layer of experience.
Prepared from the milk of different species, the Lac remedies share themes around nourishment, betrayal and belonging, while each has its own distinctive remedy picture. Taryn will introduce the Lac remedies as a family before taking a closer look at a selection of individual remedies and the different ways these themes can present in practice.
The session will particularly explore the idea of the mother wound: the experience of feeling outside, unwanted or disconnected from a fundamental sense of belonging. For practitioners working with women and the maternal line, the Lac remedies can offer an important area of materia medica to explore when these patterns emerge.
About Taryn
Taryn Jacobs is a homeopath, naturopath and Kundalini yoga teacher with more than 25 years’ experience in homeopathy and holistic health, with a particular focus on women’s health.
She qualified with a Master’s degree in Homeopathy in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has since developed an international private practice based around Sacred Body Wisdom. Alongside her clinical work, Taryn has taught Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for more than two decades and also teaches Materia Medica and Clinical Therapeutics.
Her approach brings together extensive clinical knowledge with a compassionate, patient-centred understanding of constitutional work. Drawing on classical materia medica alongside bowel nosodes, tissue salts, gem remedies and newer additions to the materia medica, she works with the layered and unfolding nature of each individual rather than fixed protocols.
This talk offers an opportunity to explore the Lac remedies through Taryn’s distinctive lens and deepen your understanding of a remedy family that reaches into some of our earliest experiences of nourishment, connection and belonging.
