Idyllwild resident master birder Robin Roberts leads this bird walk along the Desert View and Nature Trails in Long Valley at about 8,400 feet. to search for year-round and summer residents in the San Jacinto Mountains. We will be looking for beauties like Clark's Nutcracker, Red-breasted Sapsucker, White-headed Woodpecker, Violet -green Swallows, and lots more. The bird walk is limited to 12 participants giving Robin time, as needed, to assist with spotting and identifying techniques to spot and identify birds in the field.
Robin will follow the walk with a 45-minute presentation of her beautiful up close photography of more dazzling birds, taking place in the Santa Rosa theater on the ground floor of the Mountain Station at 11:30 am., also open to the public. THE DETAILS:

- Date and Time: Saturday, June 13, 8:45 am-12:15 pm (see our website for instructions on purchasing Tram tickets and arriving on time) Remember MEMBERS receive a 20% discount on Tram tickets.
- Meet at: the Santa Rosa Theater on the 1st floor of the Mountain Station just next to the Visitor Center down 1 floor from the 2nd floor tram exit.
- Preparation: At least 1 liter of water, sturdy shoes, snack, Hat, sun screen, bird check list (available at the NHA Visitor Center).
- Hike Level: Easy, mostly trail walk
- Class Size: Limit: 12
