🧠 Lecture: "The Royal Mistress of Henry VIII: Her Life, Explored"
🎤 Speaker: Researcher, Christine Morgan
Social influence is not a subject usually associated with Mary Boleyn, the oft-overlooked sister of England’s Queen Anne Boleyn. Some historians have even claimed that “what is known about Mary can be fit on a postcard.” This lecture uncovers a far richer story.
Join independent historian Christine Morgan as she explores both the glittering highlights and the quiet, intimate moments of Mary’s life in France and England as the royal mistress of Henry VIII. Through tales of fame, love, scandal, and religious reform, Christine will reassemble the known events of Mary’s life and place them within the turbulent religious currents of the Tudor age.
Together, we’ll consider Mary Boleyn’s motivations as a Christian woman and as a survivor navigating one of history’s most dangerous courts.
Christine Morgan holds a Master’s in History from UNC–Charlotte and is an independent researcher based in Chicago. She has contributed to popular history podcasts and published in History Today and Medievalists Magazine, and is currently writing her debut nonfiction book on powerful women in America’s Gilded Age.
