Metal Leaf Gilding

Metal Leaf Gilding

Brigham Young University Museum of ArtProvo, UT
Tuesday, August 4  •  2 PM - 4 PM
Overview

Explore the gilding process with your family!

Join us for an engaging introduction to the art of metal leaf gilding. In this hands-on experience, participants will explore the full gilding process using plaster casts—similar to those used by the team at the Museum of Art in restoring casts of Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti.

Guided by experienced instructors, participants will be led step-by-step through preparing plaster surfaces and applying layers of metal leaf, gaining both practical skills and a deeper appreciation for this historic craft.

Recommended ages: 10 and up. One adult chaperone is required for every three children.

This event is free, but registration is required. As this activity is likely to be fully booked, if you can no longer attend, please let us know so we can free up your spots for other participants.
