What is the parking situation there?

Gill Tract Farm has plenty of parking. Just pull into the farm entrance from San Pablo Ave. and you can park anywhere in the designated parking area.

What are some contraindications for this workshop?

Accepted Answer

Pregnant women should avoid the breathing exercises and cold plunging as well as those with severe cardiovascular conditions or epilepsy. If you are unsure of your health status, please consult your doctor. Always do the breath work sitting or lying down in a controlled environment.

Do I need experience with breath work or ice baths prior to this event?

What should I bring to the event?

Accepted Answer

For breath work:  A (yoga) mat, blanket, and eye mask (optional). For the ice bath: a bathing suit and a towel, and either flip flops or water shoes (optional). For the Obon dancing, either a traditional yukata or any type of costume you like to wear. Get creative!

Question 6

Is this a real Obon festival? Do I have to be a Buddhist to participate?

Accepted Answer

This is not a traditional Obon Festival, but rather an Obon-inspired gathering that incorporates breath work and ice bath, leading into Obon music and dancing. It is centered around the themes of remembrance, connection, and joyful celebration. People of all backgrounds and faiths are welcome!

Can my child come and participate?

Your teenager is fine to participate in our event, as long as there are no aforementioned contraindications in the FAQ and a parent or guardian is also attending. We do not recommend a child who is a preteen or younger.

This sounds like a bit of an odd combo. Who should come to this event?

Accepted Answer

Whether you're breathwork-curious, cold plunge-curious, an Obon dance enthusiast, lover of the arts and music, or simply open to trying something delightfully unexpected in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, this event is for you! We know it's a strange combo of activities—that's the whole point.
