Let's Make LARD!
Join us for a fun in-person event where we'll dive into the art of rendering lard and explore delicious ways to use it in cooking and baking. Whether you're a kitchen newbie or a seasoned pro, come learn tips and tricks to make the most of this traditional ingredient. Bring your appetite and curiosity—lard never tasted so good!
This workshop takes place at our covered picnic area called "Creekview."
Workshop includes:
- Instruction from Melissa Falcone
- A pint-size jar of rendered lard to take home
- Up to ten pounds of pork fatback or leaf fat to take home FREE
- On-farm experience
- Two nibbles - something fried in lard and something baked with lard!
Lard is a natural and nourishing cooking fat made from rendered pork fat. You'll learn how easy and frugal it is to do this at home. In addition to cooking and baking with lard, in the Falcone house we also use it to make candles (that don't smell porky!) and soaps. Very similar to tallow, you'll fall in love with lard at this workshop!
