Magic of Monotype: Collagraph

Collagraphy is printmaking's most tactile and sculptural form — and one of its most surprising. No experience necessary.

In this hands-on workshop with Audra Furgal, build your own printing plate from scratch, layering textures, materials, and mark-making directly onto a board to create a relief surface that's as much an artwork as the prints it produces.

Once your plate is sealed and ready, move to inking and printing — learning how to work ink into the plate, wipe it back, and pull impressions that reveal all the layered detail you've built in. Subtle shifts in how you ink or wipe the plate will produce entirely different results from the same surface, making every print a small discovery.

By the end of the session, you'll have a collection of original prints, your finished collagraph plate to take home, and a completely new way of thinking about texture, surface, and mark-making. No experience necessary and all materials provided.
