Who can attend?

Accepted Answer

Anyone adopted as a child or experienced foster care. If you are not already a client of FindSelf Counseling there will be a brief screening process before finalizing registration. If we determine the retreat isn't a good fit for you, your registration will be refunded, minus the Eventbrite fee.

Question 2

What if I don't like being around a lot of people? How big will the group be?

Accepted Answer

I NTROVERTS, HAVE NO FEAR - Tickets are limited, and there will be space for people to escape to if they're feeling overwhelmed or just need a little quiet.  Registration will be capped at 15 attendees to help maintain an intimate, supportive environment.

When does Late Registration go into effect?

Prices will increase to $325 at 12pm on September 25.

Question 4

Is my registration refundable?

Accepted Answer

Due to the costs of booking and labor, this event is 50% refundable until 5pm September 25. Eventbrite fees are not refundable. Thank you for understanding.

Question 5

What should I bring with me?

Accepted Answer

Comfy clothes, bathing suit if you want to use the pool, walking shoes if you plan to walk around the area, your journal, tissues. Yoga mat welcome but not required. Since we meet towards the end of October, we will have an offrenda. Feel free to bring pictures of loved ones who have passed.

Is there a way for me to get to know other participants beforehand?

Yes! We will host a zoom meet and greet for all registrants within a few weeks beforehand so you can meet each other.

Question 7

What's the weather like there at that time of year?

Accepted Answer

Good question. North Texas is fickle! It is usually still warm in NTX even at the end of October, but cooler than the summer. Generally you can assume it will be between 70-90 degrees. Yes, it's a bit unpredictable. We recommend layering. If we expect major weather, we'll let you know.

What time do we start?

Your ticket says 4p on Thursday, because most people prefer to arrive Thursday afternoon or evening. We will have an opportunity to meet and socialize that evening. Activities start Friday morning, usually at 9am. If you have any specific travel concerns please discuss with the event organizer.

What time will we be done?

Your ticket says Sunday morning. We usually provide another opportunity to socialize, and complete a closing activity before folks depart. If you have any specific travel concerns please discuss with the event organizer.

What's the most affordable way to get there?

Accepted Answer

Southwest Airlines is usually the most affordable for flights (Dallas is their hub). Texas also offers a luxury bus line (Vonlane runs Houston/Austin/Dallas) and regular bus lines, and a train between Fort Worth/Dallas.

I'm not sure I can afford a hotel room.

Accepted Answer

If you want to room with someone we will gladly let other registrants know and attempt to connect you. You are welcome to stay elsewhere if you prefer.

Do you offer Student or other discounts?
