🧠 Lecture: "Adventures in Toxicity: The Strange Cases in Radiology"
🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Laura Avery
From curious toddlers to adults with questionable life choices, ingestion and inhalation exposures will have you asking, “But… why?” Join us for a fast-paced, eye-opening tour through the radiologic appearances of caustic ingestions, toxic inhalants, and an eclectic mix of foreign bodies—from the expected to the truly head-scratching.
We will connect striking imaging findings to underlying pathophysiology and patterns of injury, highlighting how radiologists catch trouble early and help guide life-saving clinical care…with a hint of laughter along the way.
Dr. Laura Avery is an Emergency Radiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, spending her shifts in a dark room interpreting X-rays and CT scans of acute disease and the occasional aftermath of poor choices. She trained at Wayne State and MGH and has led the Harvard Medical School Radiology Clerkship for over a decade, earning numerous teaching awards for her engaging and memorable teaching style.
