Can I come if I'm not grieving a person?

Absolutely. All grief is welcome here. The aim of this happy hour is to provide a space for socializing without having to worry about whether you can mention grief or not (you can!), whatever the grief may be.

Question 2

Can I come if I am not actively grieving anything?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please! We just ask that you respect the people who are by not judging them, not giving advice or using platitudes, and not interrupting with stories of your past grief or others' losses. This happy hour is intended to provide space to breathe without worrying how others will respond.

Are there non-alcoholic options?

Yes! Mr. B. makes delicious sparkling NA drinks.

Question 4

How will I know I'm in the right place?

Accepted Answer

If you are at Mr. B.'s Mead Center in White Center,  you're in the right place. There will be buttons to identify the type of loss you're carrying. If you'd like to wear one, it may help people know if you are carrying a similar loss or be a good conversation starter.

Question 5

Is this a private event?

Accepted Answer

No. Mr. B.'s Mead Center is open to the public from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Wednesdays are game nights, too, and everyone is invited to play Rock Band or any of the other board games.

What is the cost?

There is no cost, but we do ask that you purchase at least one drink to support our lovely hosts, Mr. B.'s Mead Center. Listening to Grief will provide small pins, so a donation is appreciated (but not required) to help cover some of the costs.
