Explore and Restore: A volunteer restoration event on Wills Canyon Trail
This event is taking place on Friday May 29th and Saturday May 30th. Come to just one day or both!
Hosted by the Watershed Stewardship Program and Ojai Valley Land Conservancy! Join us to help control erosion in Wills Canyon in order to benefit downstream trout.
We will be working in teams to conduct gully restoration along the Wills Canyon Trail. There will be an introduction consisting of short educational talks on Southern Steelhead trout and Process-Based Restoration, a native plant walk, as well as a tool safety training.
Day 1: Trail clearance, woody debris staging, and native seed collection. Free Pizza!
Day 2: Hand-building erosion control structures from woody debris. Prizes!
Anyone is welcome to attend. This event will involve an easy 1 mile hike each way along the scenic Wills Canyon Trail. Free Parking, bathrooms within walking distance. This event may be postponed or cancelled in the case of very heavy precipitation or flooding, but otherwise be ready show up rain or shine!
