The Windham World Affairs Council invites you to an engaging, globally grounded event in Brattleboro that connects sustainability, economic development, and local action. The evening begins with a presentation and discussion of The Profitable Good: A Bold Playbook for Sustainable Business Growth, exploring how organizations and communities can align purpose and profit to address pressing global challenges—from climate change to inclusive economic growth.

These ideas are especially relevant in Brattleboro, where current community conversations focus on building a stronger, more sustainable future. Local initiatives highlight challenges such as a shrinking workforce, an aging population, housing needs, and the importance of attracting new residents and supporting local businesses, alongside broader regional priorities like infrastructure, energy systems, and economic resilience.

Following the talk, participants will take part in the Sustainability Lens Game, including a special “Main Street Brattleboro” version. In this interactive, hands-on experience, you’ll step into real-world roles and explore how decisions around local businesses, housing, energy, and community resources shape the future of the town. This is a unique opportunity to experiment with ideas, collaborate with others, and envision practical ways to make Brattleboro more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable—while having fun. Attendees will also receive free copies of the book and game (while supplies last), and additional books—including a special full-color edition—will be available for purchase.
