Overview

A Queer History Scavenger Hunt Throughout the Castro

The Great Imperial Cow Race is a Castro-wide, solo or team-based scavenger hunt designed to celebrate The Castro’s rich queer history while raising funds for LYRIC.

Individual tickets are $10 each, or teams (no more than 5 members) can purchase tickets together. Participants will travel across iconic LGBTQ+ landmarks, solving clues and completing creative challenges. The event blends gameplay, performance, storytelling, and community engagement into a high-energy fundraising experience.

The event concludes with a celebration and awards ceremony at The Midnight Sun (4067 18th Street ) where trophies will be awarded to the race winner, best costume and best team name. There will be 3-4 performances as part of the celebration.

Net proceeds benefit Lyric San Francisco who has a vision is to develop loving, compassionate, and strong families with LGBTQQ+ youth by addressing cultural differences, building healthier relationships. Totals raised will be included in the Monarchs Charity Fund, which is part of the Imperial Council of San Francisco (a 501c3 non-profit in the state of California).
