The mission of the Dorothy Marie Kinnard Foundation is to serve as a platform to raise awareness, spotlight problem-solving techniques, and implement actions in Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities to help them better understand and manage diabetes as well as help decrease the number of persons at risk of developing the disease among this unique group.

This Health education event takes an honest look at diabetes and its impact on communities of color and steps you can take to stay healthy.

Diabetes continues to be a leading medical issue among people of color with more than 40 million people in the U.S who now have the disease and we want you to be informed! You are invited to join us at a special session- No Sugar-Coating: The Bitter-Sweet Truth About Diabetes and How You Can Stay Healthy. The session will take an honest look at diabetes and its impact on communities of color and steps you can take to stay healthy. Speak with medical professionals and get free materials that can help you stay informed. The event is FREE and open to the public and will take place at Tusculum Clinic located at 4901 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, TN at 11:00 am with plenty of convenient parking. A free lunch will be provided. Seating is limited so be sure to reserve your space soon.

Dr. Beverly Davidson is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and owner of Agape Family Healthcare. She will be the guest speaker and will address the challenges of dealing with Type II Diabetes and what you can do to become healthier. Known affectionately by her patients as “Dr. Beverly,” she is a proud Native Nashvillian and has dedicated more than 27 years to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals and families within her community.In 2009, she founded Agape Family Healthcare with a mission to serve underserved populations and improve access to quality healthcare. Dr. Beverly earned her ADN, BSN, and MSN degrees from Tennessee State University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she received the Doctor of Nursing Practice Clinical Award. She is a member of the International Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the Alpha Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.Outside of healthcare, Dr. Beverly values faith, family, and lifelong learning.
