About the album:

In their album River Charms, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Anju seeks steady wisdom in the waters and lands of Mni Sota Makoce. Arrangements penned in the aftermath of the 2020 pandemic and the Minneapolis uprising delve into the knottiness of grief and belonging, finding a soft place to land in ten tracks that showcase Anju’s ornate lyricism and melodic weaving. The singer-songwriter gracefully pivots between gazing outwards and within, building with and towards the musical and natural communities that surround them. As a follow-up to their EP Elaichi - Steeped in Community (2025), River Charms is produced by Anju with an ear for the grain of each instrument and the contributions of skilled collaborators who support their songwriting and story. -Paola Qossermelli Messina

Musician and engineer collaborators: Valery Abril, Miranda Agnew, Siddharth Ashokkumar, Anirudh Changkakoti, Mikayla Finnegan, Devon Gates, Jake Hoff, Zakariya Khan, Kelly Knox, Devi Majeske, Philip McGinty Rawlinson, Ria Modak, Alec Ness, Snehal Pandey, Arunachala Satgunasingam, Derek Schwartz, Abby Swidler, Vince Welch, and Sarah Zahorodni

Made possible by Club Passim's Iguana Fund. Recorded at Minnehaha Recording Company (Minneapolis), The Record Company (Boston), The Hive (Cambridge), Retro City Studios (Philadelphia), and at home in Minneapolis and Boston.
