Sierra Institute to Timber, Wood, and Iron Group (TWIG)
Drew Hanson began his career as an elementary school teacher before moving into higher education, serving as Director of Academic Success at Salish Kootenai College. More than a decade ago, he was introduced to mass timber through the college’s forestry program and conversations around wood-based building and design. After returning to his hometown of Superior, Montana, Drew designed and helped build his own hybrid mass timber home, which led to his work with Vaagen Timbers on projects across the western United States. He currently serves as Mayor of Superior and recently launched Timber, Wood, and Iron Group (TWIG), a consulting company focused on mass timber development, project strategy, and industry collaboration. His current work includes consulting for the Sierra Institute for Community and Environment and supporting a variety of mass timber projects and companies throughout the region.
