Community Food Forest Tour
Join us to tour and learn about our Community Food Forest, now in its third year of growth and development at our Twin Lakes Park office.
At the UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County complex in Twin Lakes Park, a living community food forest is taking shape—one tree and shrub at a time. We’ve planted dozens of carefully selected, high-performing, edible species, from University of Florida-developed cultivars, like the disease-resistant Sugar Belle® mandarin, to locally bred gems, such as painter’s cherilata.
This guided tour is your chance to walk the food forest with us, hear what has and hasn't worked, and see these plants in person. Designed to educate, inspire, and nourish, this food forest is a long-term investment, one the community will learn from and eat from for generations to come. Visitors will be able to discover new fruits, and, in the future, collect cuttings, scions, or seeds from established plants.
