Overview

Presenting electronic dance music with global rhythms, Worldtown Soundsystem Collective will perform a free concert at The Lawn!

The University City Summer Series, presented by University City District and Philadelphia Music Alliance, is bringing a FREE concert by Worldtown Soundsystem Collective, a high-voltage act fusing electronic dance music, global rhythms, and Philly soul to The Lawn at uCity Square (37th and Cuthbert) on Thursday, July 30th!

Worldtown Soundsystem is an eight-piece live band performing original compositions with a musical foundation in one of the world's most universal musical languages: House Music. For over a decade, this Philadelphia-born high-voltage act has been fusing electronic dance music, global rhythms, and Philly soul into a uniquely energetic live experience sprinkled with influences from around the world.

In 2016, Worldtown Soundsystem released its debut self-titled EP, followed by a string of singles including ‘The Frame (ft Anessa LaRae)’ and ‘Freedom’ which features vocalist Zeek Burse and Grammy Award winning string arranger Larry Gold alongside 5x Grammy winning percussionist Pablo Batista.

Worldtown Soundsystem’s mission is to celebrate global culture through music and art. Peace, love, fun...everywhere and everyone.

We will kick things off with a DJ set at 5 PM, and Worldtown Soundsystem Collective will take the stage at 6:30! Our thanks to uCity Square for being our host and partner for Summer Series!

The uCity Square Beer Garden will be open during the concert for pay-as-you-go drinks from Two Locals Brewing Company.

Don't miss our other dates for Summer Series! We'll be welcoming Lady Alma and Band back to The Lawn on Thursday, August 27th, and Philly legend Johnny Showcase on June 25th!

About the Lawn: The Lawn at uCity Square is a playful pop-up space where the neighborhood can find shade, feel the grass beneath their feet, and enjoy events like live music, movies, fitness classes, crafts, and more. The uCity Square Beer Garden is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 PM to 7 PM all season long. See their full calendar of events here.

About Two Locals: Richard and Mengistu Koiler made history when they opened Two Locals Brewing Company, the first Black-owned brewery in Philadelphia, in January of 2024 at 3675 Market Street within uCity Square. Two Locals serves a growing selection of house-brewed beers and food provided by Liberty Kitchen. See the video we produced about their journey from brewing at home to opening up their flagship store in University City.
