41st Annual Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast

Since 1986, the annual Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast has brought together members of the faith community, local business people, and civic leaders with the purpose of lifting our nation and those in authority up in prayer.

About the Speaker:

Former Wheaton Mayor James Carr will be the featured speaker at the Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast which will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Carr served as Wheaton's mayor from 1993 to 2007, guiding the community with integrity, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to public service. His message will reflect on the lasting impact of September 11, honor the lives lost and the courage of those who responded, and encourage a spirit of faith, unity, and hope as the nation marks this solemn milestone.

Carr has exemplified servant leadership throughout his careers in banking, as an educator, and as a civil servant. Grounded in his faith and dedicated to strengthening his community, Carr will bring a thoughtful perspective on leadership, resilience, and the enduring values that continue to inspire Americans 25 years after one of the nation's most defining days.

About the WLPB:

The Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast, Inc., is an Illinois Not For Profit Corporation founded in 1986 as an initiative by local banker, Bill Davis and Wheaton College Communications Director, Dick Gerig, as well as friends in government and business in Wheaton. Its purpose is to bring together City of Wheaton business men and women and civic leaders in order to pray for our leadership.

Biblical Foundation:

The WLPB is founded upon the Christian faith, with particular attention to the following two areas of scripture: Romans Chapter 13:1-7, which provides that there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been ordained of God; as well as I Timothy 2:1-2, which instructs us to "Pray for all that are in authority."

The WLPB exists to promote awareness of the spiritual dimension of civic leadership, and assist civic leaders in and around Wheaton, Illinois, in recognizing that leadership is ordained of God and that guidance for leaders is provided by God.
