No. This class is beginner-friendly. If you can use a smartphone, you can learn Meshtastic.

What will I learn in this class?

You’ll learn how to set up, configure, and use Meshtastic radios to build your own long-range, off-grid communication network. We’ll cover the app, device settings, channel configuration, encryption keys, and common troubleshooting steps.

What can I actually do with Meshtastic?

Accepted Answer

Send messages miles away without cell service, create group communication for hiking or events, build emergency communication kits, experiment with mesh networking, and integrate radios into IoT or sensor projects.

Do I need to buy a radio to attend?

Accepted Answer

No, but we recommend it. If you buy a kit (available for purchase at the event), we’ll walk you through setup, configuration, and assembly during the class.

Do I need a ham radio license?

Accepted Answer

No license is required for Meshtastic. It uses ISM band radios that are legal for unlicensed operation.
