Culture Encounters offers a dynamic array of programs designed to foster cultural understanding, appreciation, and unity. Our youth programs, including "Eat. Talk. Write." food tours and the "Create with a Local" series, empower young minds to explore diverse cultures through culinary adventures and artistic expressions. For adults, we provide opportunities to savor global cuisines through our ethnic restaurant visits. Additionally, our cultural arts exhibitions, performances, and thought-provoking podcasts engage audiences of all ages, promoting intercultural dialogue and connection. We also equip parents with the tools they need to cultivate cultural intelligence within their families. Through these initiatives, Culture Encounters is a driving force in building inclusive communities and celebrating the richness of cultural diversity.

The Cultural Arts Center

Join us this May for a night of real Southern cuisine, meaningful conversations, and the kind of energy you don’t want to miss. We’re bringing in Shrimps at 17 West to serve up dishes that are full of flavor, tradition, and heart here at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. It’s more than just dinner. It’s stories, culture, and people coming together around the table. Free for Dinner Club Members What to expect: Soul food that actually hits. Catered by Shrimps at 17 West. Fun Line Dancing Session. Circle and Sips from 5:45 to 6:15 PM with intriguing conversations that really connect over a drink. Come hungry. Bring a friend, or come on your own and leave with new connections.
