Overview

Join the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and Shane Alden Edwards, the Wild Dryad for this Saturday morning workshop.

Join the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and Shane Alden Edwards, the Wild Dryad for this Saturday morning workshop. The Wild Dryad is a self-taught botanist, illustrator, and educator who is committed to connecting people to the natural world around them through hands-on learning interventions. The workshop will begin with a short interactive tour of Perennial City: Experiments in Urban Gardening. Next, the group will venture out into the Hull-House courtyard, where participants will learn to identify a handful of edible plants that can be found all over Chicago, including at the museum! Finally, Shane will lead the group in a plant illustration workshop. Join us for a day of exploration and creativity!

This program is open to all ages, but we especially invite youth ages 5-15 and their friends and families. Light refreshments will be provided along with all materials – just bring your imagination! This program is presented alongside Perennial City: Experiments in Urban Gardening and aims to highlight the people and organizations in the city who are working to redefine land access and provide space for community growth across Chicago.
