Music for the Heart & Soul

It's an all-woman show this time! This is Unity Sachse's third year bringing you music to warm you heart and delight your soul. The upcoming sprinbg concert features four dynamic female vocalists all beloved by the Unity Sachse spiritual family.

Cathy Smith -Cathy Smith’s musical talent was shaped and nurtured early in her life by her grandfather and an aunt. She draws from Americana, folk, jazz, singer-songwriter, and pop, with a voice that moves from soft and breathy to powerful and clear depending on what the song calls for. She studied classical voice in college. Cathy found her fullest voice alongside her husband Kevin, a guitarist and partner of over 30 years. Together they were part of the house band for the North Texas Church of Freethought from 2000 to 2006.

Cathy has long had a heart for animals and helping others. She channels both loves through Cathy’s Critters, an educational animal farm focused on early childhood development and humane education — where animals become a bridge to learning and connection.

Lainey Berstein - is a singer/songwriter known not only for her wide vocal range, but also for her wide range of singing styles. Her training and experience include a degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Woman’s University, many years of studying voice, and her own weekly solo performances. Lainey is currently the Music Director at Unity Church of Austin, and she continues to teach private music lessons, stage presence classes, and performance workshops.

Kim Andrews - sings with a richness of feeling and from the heart songs of spirit and hope. She has shared her love for musical expression in choral groups for more than 20 years. An experienced background singer, she currently sings on a regular basis at Unity Spiritual Center where she serves as Spiritual Leader.

Carolyn Jones - is a sophisticated vocalist reminiscent of the classic nightclub singers of the 50’s & 60’s with today’s musical sensibilities and a fresh approach. Five albums and five single recordings into her career, Miss Jones is just hitting her stride. She can be heard singing with her jazz groups; Jones and Her Jazz Men, Fresh Vintage Jazz Ensemble & The Satin Dolls Band. Her repertoire extends from Classic Jazz to Vintage Jazzy Pop. She is among a select few vocalists awarded the prestigious Sammons Center For The Arts Cabaret Vocalist Of The Year.

Accompanist Stefan Karlsson – pianist/composer/educator stays very active as guest performer and Artist-in-Residence at concert venues, festivals, clubs, and universities worldwide. He has been a performer and educator internationally. His discography includes 78 recordings, with nine CD projects under his own leadership. He serves as Unity Sachse's Musical Director.
