Overview

Join Sigal's Marketing Director Chris Stack for Electrophone Salon, our free monthly gathering dedicated to electronic instruments & sound.

May's Topic - Effects Pedals & Processors - This month we'll have some fun exploring the world of effects pedals and processors. They're not just the realm of guitarists (though we may do some of that too) but can be used on synthesizers, voice and other instruments.

Do you have a favorite effect you'd like to demonstrate? Email chris@sigalmusicmuseum.org to discuss.

SPECIAL GUEST - We'll have a special guest this month! Rick "Hawker" Shaich of Asheville Music Tools will join us to demonstrate the pedals they design and manufacture right up the road in Asheville. Rick was an Engineer at Moog when I worked there and later started his own company creating top-quality analog effects pedals.

These events are free (with registration) and are informal, collaborative, and hands-on in spirit. Electrophone Salon creates a welcoming space to listen, learn, and connect around the art and craft of electronic sound.

And a historical note—"Electrophone Salon" is not a new phrase. It was also used to describe a listening center, like a café or club, in London (Victorian/Edwardian era circa 1890s-1920s) where people paid to use special headsets to hear live theatre, music, and church services transmitted over telephone lines, acting as an early form of live-streaming before radio became popular.
