Join us on Wednesday September 16th at 7pm for Speculative Fiction Book Club at Whistler's Daughter!
Speculative fiction is a broad genre. Also known as “what-if” books, spec fic changes the laws of what’s real or possible in society as we know it, then speculates on the outcome of these changes. Think sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, etc!
Our pick for this month is What We Can Know by Ian McEwan, a genre-bending literary mystery set across two timelines: a candlelit dinner party in 2014 where a celebrated poet reads a new work aloud, and 2119, where a scholar in a climate-ravaged England becomes obsessed with tracking down the only copy of that lost poem. Elegant, melancholy, and full of secrets, it's a novel about how much of the past we can ever truly recover — and what we lose when we stop trying.
Pick up a copy in store, head to Libro.fm if you prefer an audiobook experience, or visit our friends at the Ferndale Area District Library to check out a copy for the month.
Your $10 ticket fee holds a seat for you, and can be applied toward an in-store purchase (valid on book club day only).
