Join Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program for a guided paddle in Bayou Texar!
Join Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program and the Florida Public Archeaology Network for a guided paddle of the historic Bagada Mill Site. Dive into the history of the site and it's cultural signifance from a unique waterfront vantage point!
Must be 14+ and able to independently operate your paddle craft to participate.
Borrow one of our kayaks for free or BYOK!
BYOK - Bring Your Own Kayak (or other paddle craft) participants must bring and wear a life jacket with a whistle. Please plan to arrive at 8:30am to offload and prepare your paddle craft and gear.
Registration is required for this event even if you are bringing your own paddle craft. This event has a set group size in order to maintain a safe tour. Additional details will be sent to registered attendees 1 day before the event.
Each participate must have the ability to:
- Wear a life jacket for the duration of the paddle.
- Enter and exit the raft (boat, canoe, kayak ) independently or with the assistance of a companion
- Remain seated and balanced
- In the event of a capsize: get out from under the watercraft, remain face up in the water with the aid of a lifejacket, and make progress to the shoreline
- Ability to move kayak through the water in a stable manner and return it to kayak launch
- Follow directions from program guides
This program requires you to enter and exit a kayak, paddle, and maintain balance. Participants are welcome to bring any adaptive equipment they may have to assist with the abilities listed above.
If you register and are no longer able to attend, please email us at info@ppbep.org so we can open up a spot to our waitlist. If a spot opens, we will contact folks on our waitlist in order and give 24 hours to respond to claim the spot.
