The Red Poppy presents the Rebecca Kleinmann Quintet featuring East Coast based flutist and vocalist Rebecca Kleinmann in collaboration world class Venezuelan musicians cuatro player/percussionist Jackeline Rago and guitarist Carlos Caminos, wonderful Bay Area/ Mexican born percussionist Marlon Aldana, and outstanding Bay Area bassist Bil Hager. Gracefully flowing between Venezuelan music, Brazilian folkloric rhythms and flamenco inspired originals, this dynamic quintet brings a special spin and vibrant life to every composition they arrange.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Flutist and vocalist Rebecca Kleinmann returns to California from North Carolina where she leads several bands, directs UNC Chapel Hill’s Charanga Carolina and teaches in the UNCG Jazz department while pursuing her masters in classical flute. A Grammy awarded artist for her contribution to Taylor Eigsti’s “Plot Armor” (2023), she is an acclaimed for her performances worldwide. Pianist Benny Green made note of her unique artistry saying “Rebecca is masterful and selfless in her ability and inclination of melding her sound with her environment.” This Quintet iteration celebrates music from Venezuela to Brazil with some of Rebecca’s most treasured collaborators.
