Tremont - Take a Hike Summer Series tour
TAKE A HIKE® offers FREE in-person, guided walking tours of unique and historic neighborhoods in Cleveland!
The interactive walking tours are led by knowledgeable guides that will share fascinating facts about historical assets and key figures that helped make Cleveland a special place. You'll learn about architecture, cultural development, historic preservation, and Cleveland's role in American history. Along the way, you'll meet important figures from Cleveland’s past, portrayed by actors and actresses, who will share with you their stories.
The Tremont Tour meets on Mondays at 6 pm at Sideyard Park (1370 Abbey Ave. Cleveland, OH 44113). Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts promptly.
About the Tour: A pre-Civil War settlement that was nearly given up for dead after the freeways carved it up in the 1950s and 1960s, Tremont has become the hottest place for redevelopment and renewal in Cleveland. However, its scale, intact charm, location on the bluff overlooking Downtown, and its prominence on the Towpath Trail and Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area have all assisted in a cultural and economic resurgence.
RESERVATIONS are requested but not required, walk-ups the day of tour are welcomed.
TAKE A HIKE® is a program of Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation with generous support from Ohio & Erie Canalway and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
