Overview

Join us for a 5-week ceramics class with instructor Horacio Casillas!

Handbuilding

May 26th- June 27th on Tuesdays from 9 AM- 12 PM

Instructor: Horacio Casillas

This class is for advanced throwers and handbuilders interested in Soda firing. Everything we make in this class will be fired in the Soda kiln.

Soda firing is an atmospheric kiln technique where sodium carbonate (soda ash) or bicarbonate (baking soda) is introduced into a high-temperature kiln.

The soda vaporizes, coating pottery with unique, unpredictable glossy textures, flashed colors (orange, red, yellow), and flashes of color on unglazed surfaces.
