Overview

Create a naturally dyed silk scarf using flowers and plants—learn bundle dyeing techniques in this hands-on, creative garden workshop.

Botanical Dye Class: Bundle Dyeing with Silk

Join us for a creative and nature-filled afternoon at Christianson’s Nursery as we explore the art of botanical bundle dyeing.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and dye your own silk scarf using a beautiful selection of homegrown and wildcrafted plant materials. Bundle dyeing is a simple and magical process that creates one-of-a-kind patterns and colors—perfect for refreshing textiles, covering stains, or adding natural beauty to clothing and gifts.

While your scarves gently steam, we’ll dive into the basics of natural dyeing, including how to prepare fabrics, which plants work best, and how you can grow or forage your own dye materials at home. You’ll leave feeling inspired and ready to continue experimenting with this approachable and rewarding craft.

Your scarf will be pre-treated and ready to dye, and you’ll head home with your finished piece along with a detailed handout to guide your future projects. Additional pre-treated scarves and bandanas will also be available for purchase if you’d like to keep creating.

Crafting in a group is such a joyful and inspiring experience—we hope you’ll join us!

  • One pre-treated silk scarf
  • Access to a variety of natural dye materials
