This May, we are fortunate to have two exhibitions of work by ninety-seven-year-old, Venezuelan artist Magdalena Suarez Frimkess on view at the same time. The two exhibitions provide the scope of her vast and continuing career and the unmistakable creative force permeating her practice. Catherine Hess, a longtime friend of the artist, curator and Art Muse lecturer, will lead our viewing and conversation.We invite you to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity to visit both shows: at David Zwirner, Magdalena Suarez Frimkess, organized by Los Angeles based artist Shio Kusaka, celebrates the playful and sophisticated approach to the ceramic medium with two collaborative pieces created by the two artists.At The Marciano Art Foundation, Magdalena Suarez Frimkess: Ninety-Six and Pissed includes her well-known ceramics inspired by the world of cartoons and new works on paper by the artist.
