Queen Elisabeth laureate violinist William Hagen joins acclaimed pianist Marina Radiushina

A laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, violinist William Hagen has appeared as soloist with the Chicago Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, San Francisco Symphony, and other major ensembles, and has performed at venues including Wigmore Hall and the Louvre. Critics have praised his “impeccable timing,” “buoyant sound,” “dead center intonation,” and “amazing precision,” while also noting the rare emotional directness of a player who “wore his heart on his sleeve.” Pianist Marina Radiushina, Artistic Director of the Mainly Mozart Festival, brings to the partnership the insight of a pianist described as a “virtuoso” with “rare depth of interpretation and understanding of style.”Opening with Mozart’s Violin Sonata in A major, K. 305, the program begins in a world of poise, grace, and luminous conversation between violin and piano. Works by Fritz Kreisler add warmth, wit, and old-Vienna charm, including his brilliant reimagining of Mozart’s “Haffner” Serenade. Korngold’s suite from Much Ado About Nothing carries the recital into a more theatrical realm, alive with quicksilver character, lyric tenderness, and stage color.
