Waterchestnut Pull Party
A free, hands-on, get down & dirty, removing aquatic invasive vegetation party
Details: Invasive waterchestnut(Trapa natans) is a noxious aquatic plant forming dense, floating mats that choke waterways, displacing native species, hindering recreation, and reducing oxygen in the river. Control involves hand-pulling.
Over the past few years, waterchestnut invaded a Wild & Scenic section of the Concord River. OARS 3 Rivers sponsors an event in Billerica between Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT)Ralph Hill land parcels through CISMA. Billerica Recreation offers free use of their canoes (or BYOBoat) launching from Bartlett’s Landing Conservation Commission Land. We will need land crews on SVT land, and water crews on the Wild & Scenic designated river.
Boats, gear, lifevests, baskets provided. Register now to receive a reminder 24 hours prior to the event. Registration presumes having read the disclaimer.
