Clay Play With Shea - Pottery Class

Clay Play With Shea - Pottery Class

Overview

Clay Play is a laid-back introduction to pottery making. Learn 3 techniques for hand-building vessels with ceramic artist SheaGreen.

Clay Play is designed for those who want a laid back introduction to pottery. Set inside an art gallery in Atlanta's historic Castleberry Hill Arts District, the class explores 3 different techniques used to hand-build pottery. Each student will have 2 sculpted vessels at the completion of class. Pick up your fired and glazed pieces after 2 weeks. (Shipping available for travelers). Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

About your instructor: In her home studio, SheaGreen crafts small-batch pieces that soften the line between art and functional objects. Raised in Queens and now establishing roots in Georgia, Shea's journey with clay began as a spiritual reclamation, a way to reconnect with her own divine nature amid life’s noise. What started as an act of self-remembrance has blossomed into a practice centered on creating tangible affirmations for the home.

Her process is grounded in intuition, stillness, and silence, allowing the clay to take the shape of the art seen in her mind’s eye. Through playful exploration of color, texture, and symbolism, Sheana creates collections that center the empowerment of people of color and the reclamation of the spaces they occupy.

About the Venue: Old Rabbit Gallery is located in Castleberry Hill, Atlanta's Historic Arts District. Old Rabbit is part of a network of artist-led gallery spaces, where new works are exhibited monthly. From May 8th-June 9th, 2026, the gallery will be transformed into a pop up pottery shop featuring the work of 15 ceramic artists from Atlanta and surrounding areas. Our gallery neighbor, Nina Baldwin Art Gallery, is hosting an exhibition right next door.

Revenue from Clay Play classes helps platform artists and expose them to new audiences.
