Programme Description
Bubu and the Big Catch: Stories of the Sea is a family-friendly programme that introduces young participants to the maritime world of the Orang Laut, Singapore’s indigenous sea community. Kids will get to explore how coastal families have fished for generations using the traditional bubu fish trap and learn about fish species important to the community. Through simple explanations and interactive moments, the programme makes maritime heritage accessible and fun for younger audiences. The session ends with a hands-on craft activity where children create their own colourful sea creatures to take home, encouraging creativity while sparking curiosity about the sea, coastal life, and traditional fishing techniques of the Orang Laut.
